Natural Objects celebrates the male body and its characteristics. Muscular development, rough or wrinkled skin, body hair, facial hair, and genitalia (in their natural form) are foregrounded, not hidden. Natural light is used and there is no digital manipulation of the compositions. The models have neither tan lines nor tattoos. Instead of focusing on glamorizing and simplifying (as in much of photography of the male nude, done by former advertising photographers), the theme of Carlquist's photographs is the richness of natural forms and textures.

Tony&Cam, (typically photographed in an XXX rated genre) are published in this book and have been photographed in a completely ingenious way - featuring their distinctive muscle development and extreme vascularity juxtaposed with natural objects such as plants, rocks and wood forms.
